Getting My Hands Dirty

My first year was a reality check. Coming out of university, I thought I knew the cloud, but my rookie year was where I actually learned how things work. I spent most of my time just trying to understand how things connect and work around cloud writing my first Terraform modules and it actually made me think how powerful IAC is. It wasn't always high-level architecture even though I felt that I'm doing god's work but building that solid base taught me that you can’t automate what you don't first understand manually.

Things Started To Click

I stopped just following tutorials and started making decisions. I spent months converting old CloudFormation stacks into Terraform and figured out how to actually save the company money with Auto Scaling. Building pipelines from GitHub to ECS and it was the first time I felt like I wasn't just 'fixing' things, but I was building systems that could actually grow on their own

Shift in Perspective

This is where it got real. I used to have imposter syndrome which slowly turned into responsibility.I’ve realized that being a Cloud Engineer is about more than just tech it's about being the person people trust to keep the lights on. But honestly? I'm still just as confused as day one. Still a bit lost in the scale of it all, slightly overwhelmed by how much there is to learn, and always searching for that next problem that makes me feel like a beginner again.
